The Camps

	SPRING BREAK: Cartooning & Comics Camp! Where: Museum of York County Ages: Ages 9 - 12 Limit: 20 participants Dates: April 5 & 6 Register by Wed, March 28 Time: Thurs - Fri: 10 a.m. - noon Cost: CHM Members $40/week,  Non-Members $50/week
Dave McDonald, Teaching Artist, Cartoonist and Author/Illustrator of the Hamster Sam Books will teach campers how to draw cartoon characters, how to write for comics and how to develop their very own characters and stories! Participants will learn the techniques of “penciling” & “inking”, as well as composition and styles of comics.

	Critter Camp Where: Museum of York County Ages: Students entering Grade K5 Limit: 15 participants Dates: June 4 - 8 Register by Wed, May 23 Time: Mon - Fri: 9 a.m. - noon Cost: CHM Members $70/week, Non-Members $90/week
Play games, make crafts, eat silly snacks and have lots of fun while learning about animals that leap, fly, or crawl! This small-group setting is perfect for both first-timers and experienced campers.

	Time Travelers Camp Where: Historic Brattonsville Ages: Students entering Grades 4, 5 & 6 Limit: 15 participants Dates: June 11 - 15 Register by Wed, May 30 Time: Monday - Fri: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Cost: CHM Members $165/week, Non-Members $185/week
Travel through time from the pioneer backcountry, to the Revolutionary War, to an 1800s cotton plantation. Learn to cook over an open fire, drill with soldiers, write with a quill pen, play historic games, and much more.

	Junior Explorers Camp Where: Museum of York County Ages: Students entering Grades 1 & 2 Limit: 15 participants Dates: June 11 - 15 Register by Wed, May 30 Time: Mon - Thurs: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. & Fri: 9 a.m. - noon Cost: CHM Members $100/week, Non-Members $120/week
Pack your bags, and grab your passport - we’re going on safari in Africa! We’ll learn about African animals and their environments, and explore cultural traditions through stories and the arts. Junior Explorers must bring a lunch each day.

	Nature Detectives Camp Where: Museum of York County Ages: Students entering Grades 2 & 3 Limit: 15 participants Dates: July 9 - 13 Register by Wed, June 25 Time: Mon - Thurs: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. & Fri: 9 a.m. - noon Cost: CHM Members $100/week, Non-Members $120/week
Calling all curious kids! Use your detective skills as we investigate the mysteries of the natural world, from the stars in the sky to the plants and animals in your own backyard. Nature Detectives must bring a lunch each day.

	River Rats Camp Where: Museum of York County Ages: Students entering Grades 3, 4 & 5 Limit: 15 participants Dates: June 25 - 29 Register by Wed, June 13 Time: Mon - Thurs: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. & Fri: 9 a.m. - noon Cost: CHM Members $100/week, Non-Members $120/week
Dive into the adventure of the Catawba River! Discover the river’s exciting stories, meet its animals and plants, and learn how you have the power to protect it. River Rats must bring a lunch each day.

	"Peanuts...Naturally" Where: Museum of York County Ages: K5 & 1st Grade Limit: 15 participants Dates: June 18 - 22 Register by Wed, June 6 Time: Mon – Fri: 9 a.m. - noon Cost: CHM Members $70/week, Non-Members $90/week
Your child’s imagination will come to life at this camp based on the featured exhibit, Peanuts...Naturally. We’ll learn a variety of nature-themed topics from planets to stars and trees to birds from Charlie Brown and friends. We will also sing, read, eat snacks and create art.

	Roots Music Camp: Harmonica Where: McCelvey Center Ages: Students entering Grades 3, 4 & 5 Limit: 25 participants Dates: June 26 - 28 Register by Wed, June 13 Time: Tues - Thurs: 9 a.m. - noon Cost: CHM Members $50/week,  Non-Members $70/week
Charlie Story, Professional Harmonica Player, Teaching Artist, and creator of “Harmonica in Schools” will teach campers the proper way to play simple popular folk songs on the harmonica through a very unique tablature system and through ear training. Campers will also receive their own harmonica and music book and learn songs right away!

	MYCO Art Camp Where: Museum of York County Ages: Students entering Grades 3, 4 & 5 Limit: 15 participants Dates: July 16 - 20 Register by Tues, July 3 Time: Mon - Fri: 9 a.m. - noon Cost: CHM Members $100/week, Non-Members $120/week
Inspired by author and illustrator Vernon Grant’s 1934 book Build a Zoo, campers will explore the Museum of York County’s vast collection of animals and specimens to investigate, write and illustrate their own storybook. This interdisciplinary camp allows campers to explore natural history, art and literature.
