The Culture & Heritage Museums are now offering scout programs. The following programs we are currently offering are listed below. Do you need a badge that we currently do not offer? Please contact us to find out if we can create a program to meet the badge requirements.

Boy Scout Merit Badges

Textile Merit Badge

Textile and Fibers 3 hr program 10—1pm 

Historic Brattonsville 

Come and learn how people use fabrics and fibers as a part of their daily lives. You will complete a small weaving project along the way. This will fulfill all requirements for the Textile badge. 

$10 per scout 


Astronomy Merit Badge

Skywatch 2hr program. 10am—Noon or Noon—2pm 

Museum of York County 

A live sky constellation and planet presentation, how to use a star chart, followed by a question and answer period will be included in each program. The students will leave the planetarium knowing how to locate several constellations and any planets currently visible in the night sky. This program will fulfill all requirements for the Astronomy badge. 

$10 per scout


WEBELOS ACTIVITY BADGES 

Geologist 

Rocking Good Time 45 min– 1hr program 

Museum of York County 

Do you know that not all rocks are the same? From the fiery depths of volcanoes to the ridges of ancient mountains our resident rocks have a fantastic story to tell. Come and learn what makes rocks ROCK! This will fulfill all requirements to receive a Geologist Activity Badge. 

$8 per scout 


Naturalist 

Your Outdoor Surroundings 45 min—1hr program 

Museum of York County 

Explore the museums exhibits and ecology of a Piedmont forest along the Museum of York County’s 3/4 mile Nature Trail. From lichens to lizards, plants to pine trees, take a close look at nature from the bottom up. This program will fulfill all requirements to receive a Naturalist Activity Badge. 

$8 per scout  


Please call 803.329.2121 ext. 107 for advance registrations. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Group size is a minimum of 15 and maximum 30.
